NUR 304 – Adult Health I: Fundamentals of Nursing Practice is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of nursing care for adult patients. Students will learn about the role of the nurse, the nursing process, and the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. They will also learn about the common health problems of adult patients, including cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, and cancer.
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of NUR 304 – Adult Health I: Fundamentals of Nursing Practice, students will be able to:
- Define and explain key concepts in adult health and nursing practice
- Discuss the role of the nurse in adult health care
- Apply the nursing process to the care of adult patients
- Assess the health status of adult patients
- Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for adult patients
