NUR 405 – Professionalism and Career Pathways is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course introduces students to the concepts and principles of professionalism in nursing. Students will learn about the importance of professionalism in nursing practice, as well as the skills they need to develop and maintain a professional identity. They will also explore a variety of career pathways in nursing.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of NUR 405 – Professionalism and Career Pathways, students will be able to:
- Define and explain key concepts in nursing professionalism
- Identify the characteristics of a professional nurse
- Develop and maintain a professional identity
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals
- Manage their time and resources effectively

NUR 405 requires the following prerequisites:
- Completion of all core nursing courses
- GPA of 3.0 or higher
