NUR 411 – Adult Health III is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course provides students with the complex care concepts and skills necessary to provide evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with a variety of acute and chronic health problems. Students will learn about the pathophysiology of common adult health problems, the assessment and diagnosis of these problems, and the pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions used to treat them. They will also develop the skills they need to provide care to critically ill patients, to manage pain, and to provide end-of-life care.
Upon successful completion of NUR 411 – Adult Health III, students will be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology of common adult health problems
- Assess and diagnose adult health problems
- Develop and implement evidence-based nursing care plans for adult patients with a variety of acute and chronic health problems
- Provide care to critically ill patients
- Manage pain
- Provide end-of-life care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
