NUR 430 – Leadership in Nursing is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective leaders in the nursing profession. Students will learn about the principles of leadership, the different styles of leadership, and the challenges and opportunities of leading teams of nurses. They will also develop the skills they need to plan, organize, and evaluate nursing care, to manage resources, and to resolve conflict.
Upon successful completion of NUR 430 – Leadership in Nursing, students will be able to:
- Define and explain key concepts in leadership
- Describe the different styles of leadership
- Identify the challenges and opportunities of leading teams of nurses
- Develop a personal leadership philosophy
- Plan, organize, and evaluate nursing care
