NUR 440 – Population Focused Nursing is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course introduces students to the principles and practices of population-focused nursing. Students will learn about the concepts of population health, health disparities, and evidence-based practice. They will also develop the skills they need to assess the health needs of populations, to develop and implement interventions to address those needs, and to evaluate the effectiveness of those interventions.
Upon successful completion of NUR 440 – Population Focused Nursing, students will be able to:
- Define and explain key concepts in population-focused nursing
- Describe the principles of population health
- Identify and analyze health disparities
- Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to address population health needs
- Evaluate the effectiveness of population health interventions
- Communicate effectively with community members, healthcare providers, and policymakers

NUR 440 requires the following prerequisites:
