NUR 453 – Role Transition is a senior-level course in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the University of Miami. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully transition from student to professional nurse. Students will learn about the different roles and responsibilities of professional nurses, the various healthcare settings in which nurses practice, and the challenges and opportunities of nursing practice. They will also develop the skills they need to provide safe and effective patient care, to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders, and to manage their time and resources effectively.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of NUR 453 – Role Transition, students will be able to:
- Explain the different roles and responsibilities of professional nurses
- Identify and analyze the various healthcare settings in which nurses practice
- Describe the challenges and opportunities of nursing practice
- Provide safe and effective patient care
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders
