NUR 660 – Principles of Pharmacology for Advanced Practice is an undergraduate course that provides advanced nursing students with a comprehensive understanding of pharmacology as it relates to the care of patients across the lifespan.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including:
- The nature of pharmacology
- Pharmaceutical classifications and mechanisms of action
- Drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion
- Drug interactions and adverse effects
- Pharmacotherapeutics for common medical conditions
- Pharmacotherapeutics for specific patient populations
- Pharmacoeconomics
NUR 660 is a lecture-based course with a significant emphasis on case studies and active learning exercises. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical simulations and laboratory activities.
