NUR 691 A & B Precepted Practicum in Primary Care of the Family I at Long Island University is a three-credit undergraduate course that provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the NUR 690 course in a real-world clinical setting under the supervision of an experienced preceptor.
The course is designed to help students develop their clinical skills in the following areas:
- Patient assessment
- Diagnosis
- Treatment planning
- Medication management
- Patient education
- Interprofessional collaboration
Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the different aspects of primary care, such as health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.
Prerequisites: NUR 610: Nursing Research, NUR 612: Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice Nursing, NUR 614: Primary Health Care of the Family, NUR 634: Advanced Physical Assessment, and NUR 690: Diagnosis and Management of Illness and Physical Conditions of Family I
