NUR 693 A & B Precepted Practicum in Primary Care of the Family II at Long Island University is a three-credit undergraduate course that provides students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in the NUR 692 course in a real-world clinical setting under the supervision of an experienced preceptor.
The course is designed to help students develop their clinical skills in the following areas:
- Management of complex health conditions
- Management of rare health conditions
- Management of emerging health conditions
- Interprofessional collaboration in the management of complex health conditions
- Cultural competency in the care of families with complex health conditions
Students will also have the opportunity to develop their leadership and mentorship skills, as they will be responsible for supervising and mentoring less experienced students in their clinical rotation.
Prerequisites: NUR 610: Nursing Research, NUR 612: Pathophysiology for Advanced Practice Nursing, NUR 614: Primary Health Care of the Family, NUR 634: Advanced Physical Assessment, NUR 690: Diagnosis and Management of Illness and Physical Conditions of Family I, and NUR 692: Diagnosis and Management of Illness and Physical Conditions of Family II
