NURS 090 is a one-credit undergraduate course that introduces students to the computer skills they need to be successful in nursing practice. Students will learn how to use a variety of software programs, including electronic health records (EHRs), nursing documentation software, and research databases.
Students will also learn how to use computers to communicate with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
Upon completion of NURS 090, students will be able to:
- Use electronic health records (EHRs) to document patient care, enter orders, and access patient information
- Use nursing documentation software to create and manage nursing care plans
- Use research databases to find and evaluate nursing literature
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals using email, word processing, and presentation software
NURS 090 is a hands-on course that requires students to complete a variety of computer-based assignments. Students will have access to a computer lab where they can practice their skills and complete their assignments. Students will also have the opportunity to work with faculty members and teaching assistants for one-on-one assistance.
