NURS 2705 is a writing-intensive course for Baccalaureate prepared student nurses. This course builds on the fundamental knowledge of research learned in previous research/statistics courses. It focuses on improving nursing practice based on evidence discovered in the research process. Students will work collaboratively to further develop their skills in efficiently finding, reading, and comprehending published research and determining its applicability to clinical practice.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Evaluate critical issues within an interprofessional healthcare system and evaluate the effect on healthcare quality, access, and cost.
- Discuss the importance of nursing interventions, scientific integrity, critical appraisal, and maintaining ethical standards.
- Apply the principles of evidence-based practice to nursing care.
- Critically appraise and synthesize research findings to develop evidence-based nursing interventions.
- Communicate evidence-based practice findings to other healthcare professionals and patients.
