NURS 435 is a two-credit undergraduate course that provides students with an opportunity to integrate their classroom learning with clinical practice.
The course is offered during the student’s fourth year of the nursing program and is concurrent with the student’s third clinical rotation.
Upon completion of NURS 435, students will be able to:
- Apply nursing theory and principles to clinical practice at an advanced level
- Identify and address learning needs in a clinical setting
- Reflect on their clinical experiences and use this reflection to improve their nursing practice
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals in a clinical setting
- Assume leadership roles in the clinical setting
NURS 435 is a seminar-based course that emphasizes critical thinking and reflection. Students will meet with their instructor on a regular basis to discuss their clinical experiences and reflect on their learning.
Students will also participate in a variety of activities, including:
- Case studies
- Role-playing exercises
- Guest lectures from clinical experts
- Reflective journaling and essays
- Leadership development activities

Completion of the third year of the nursing program and NURS 375
