NURS 7031 is a graduate-level course that introduces students to the principles and practices of alternative medicine. Students will learn about a variety of alternative medicine modalities, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, massage therapy, and meditation.
Students will also learn about the research on the effectiveness of alternative medicine for a variety of health conditions.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define and discuss the key concepts related to alternative medicine.
- Identify the different types of alternative medicine modalities and their applications.
- Apply evidence-based practices to recommend and provide alternative medicine therapies to patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients about alternative medicine therapies.
Prerequisites:
NURS 7031 is open to graduate students in the School of Nursing who have completed the following prerequisites:
- NURS 604: Advanced Pathophysiology
- NURS 606: Advanced Pharmacology
- NURS 612: Advanced Health Assessment
