This goes beyond the written contract to a state of the relationship. As you reflect on your consulting partnership, describe how you have established this psychological contract along the way and what insight you have gained regarding its importance to consulting work.

The field of consulting requires a strong working relationship between the consultant and the client. In order for the consulting partnership to be successful, both parties must understand what is expected of each other and communicate their wants and needs. Establishing and maintaining a psychological contract is critical to the success of the consulting work.

As a medical professor and consultant, I have established the psychological contract with my clients by setting clear expectations from the beginning of our partnership. I communicated my role in the consulting process and the expected outcomes of our work together. Additionally, I gathered expectations and needs from the client, which allowed me to tailor our consulting services to their needs.

Further, maintaining an open and transparent communication about expectations and needs throughout the consulting work contributes to a successful outcome. Finally, the psychological contract serves as a foundation for accountability and trust, which is essential in any consulting relationship.
